BARBADOS: The International Cricket Council's (ICC) executive board will have a meeting on 29 and 30 October in Barbados (local time). One of the main issues will relate to the ICC withholding India's payment for participating in the March 2003 World Cup.

India's money which amounts to $ 6.5 million was withheld due to concerns about the prospect of the ICC's commercial partner the Global Cricket Corporation (GCC) making a claim against the ICC arising from the tournament. The issues relate to the sponsors. Of course one wonders how the GCC could have asked the ICC to sign away the players rights when it was not in the ICC's hands to do so.

Besides India the ICC has not paid the full dues to New Zealand and England. They refused to travel to Kenya and Zimbabwe respectively during the World Cup. The ICC will also scrutinise a proposal to introduce a new international tours cancellation protocol and the recognition of player associations. In addition to all this the board of the ICC’s commercial arm, IDI will discuss the format for the next edition of the World Cup in 2007 which will take place in the West Indies. Early reports suggest that the ICC is thus far satisfied with the progress being made as regards the venues and facilities.
